PHILIPPE AMROUCHE WAS BORN IN 1966, HE LIVES AND WORKS IN ANGOULÊME.

Philippe Amrouche's paintings show scales and dances where painted spaces swing majestically along with rhythmic lines. A movement unfolds in effusions, swinging in a great musicality.

In his artist’s books, he constantly reinvents his painted musical scores and, according to him, his poet friends broaden his own artistic conception. He illustrates their inflexions, their visions. His variations give free rein to a dance of life, a dance of energetic painting which constantly echoes the lively and emotional bond between the painter and poetry.
In the same way we follow the movement of close-knit lives, unfolding in one voice with a desire to share.

The painter tries to illustrate the textual description and the sound dimension via a movement, which is missing in painting. Poetry and painting are taking after each other, like mirrors. Hence, intertwining shapes embrace each one’s alterity and meditation.
Many series of paintings bear the title of works carried out in collaboration.
Philippe Amrouche also practises a unique technique of engraving and collages.
He opens the door to a continually renewed and genuine beauty.
As Claude Margat writes to the painter : « the purer the desire, the smoother the melody ».

His works are exhibited in lots of public or private collections.
